Guest of Honour - Kathy Mar
Kathy has been singing for a wonderfully long time, and she has learned what it takes to grab and hold an audience. Her beautiful voice is strong and clear. I once heard a heckler call "I can't hear you" and she practically blew him out of the room, while staying perfectly clear and on tune, while the audience chuckled. Boy does she know how to project!
Kathy was inducted into the Filk Hall of Fame in 1996, the second year it was awarded. She has won numerous Pegasus awards for her excellent songs, one of which was sung for President Jimmy Carter by Dandelion Wine.
But the thing we love most about Kathy is her love of filking (ask her about the Dandelion Conspiracy). She really listens to others, and gives them words of advice, encouragement and deserved praise. She has been known to cut her concert short in order to give some "younger" filker their full allotted time, when things are running late. That's not going to happen at FKO, because for Kathy, we just might let things slide a bit, if necessary! We are so proud and happy to have her back again!
Filk Waif - Paul Estin
You may have seen our Filk Waif at any of several cons, he's the guy with the huge grin bouncing around the room from excitement. Paul is one of the most enthusiastic people I know. He generally goes by the name of "Happy Fun Paul", and he is! We love him, and hope you will too.
Interfilk Guest - Steve and Dorotha Biernesser
Steve and Dorotha have been around a while, but I only just met them at OVFF this year, where I found them to be friendly and approachable, if maybe a bit shy. They sound wonderful together, and look extra good as well. We are really looking forward to hearing more of them and getting to know them a bit better.
